Gregory S. Bell
Of Counsel
Gregory S. Bell was an honors graduate of Colorado State University in Resource Management and received his juris doctor degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder, in 1979. During law school, Greg clerked for the Denver firm of Yegge, Hall, and Evans. After the bar examination, he relocated his practice and family to Fort Collins.
His work has included services for the Town of Wellington, Colorado in 1980 and 1981, as well as business litigation, real estate, and personal injury work. In 1983 he co-founded the firm of Bell & Stirman, P.C..
Greg’s career emphasized bankruptcy litigation and a civil trial practice for many years, but now is focused more heavily on municipal, financial transactional, and estate practice.
In the last ten years Greg has also emphasized real estate development, business planning and alternative dispute resolution in the real estate and business arenas. Greg is a member of the Colorado and Larimer County Bar Associations, the American Bankruptcy Institute, and the Colorado Municipal League.
Jeremy E. Scott
Jeremy (Jed) E. Scott received his bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Wyoming in 1995, followed by his juris doctor degree from the University of Wyoming College of Law in 2000.
In 2013, he earned his master of laws degree in natural resources and environmental law and policy from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and was named Outstanding Natural Resources and Environmental Law Graduate for highest overall grades in the program.
He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court, State of Colorado, and the U.S. District Court, District of Colorado. During law school, Jed clerked with the State of Wyoming Attorney General’s Office, Litigation Division and with the Office of District Attorney, First Judicial District in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Jed previously served as chair of the Larimer County Bar Association, Young Lawyer Division and on the Executive Council of the Colorado Bar Association, Young Lawyer Division. He is a graduate of the 2009 Colorado Bar Association Leadership Training (COBALT) Class and served on the 2010 COBALT Program Committee.
Jed practices in the areas of environmental law, natural resource law (including water rights, oil and gas, mining, land conservation, wildlife, and land use), real property, civil litigation, municipal law, tort and personal injury, business, and construction law. He currently serves as
town attorney and prosecutor for the Town of Ault. Jed is a member of the American Bar Association’s Section of Environment, Energy and Resources and Section of Litigation, the Colorado Bar Association, the Colorado Bar Foundation, and the Larimer County Bar Association.
Matthew T. Gould
Matt received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Oklahoma State University in 1987 and his juris doctor from the University of Tulsa in 1991. During law school, Matt served as articles editor for the Energy Law Journal. After law school, he accepted a judicial clerkship in the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s Office of Administrative Law Judges in Washington, D.C.
Following his clerkship, Matt joined the FERC litigation practice of Andrews & Kurth, LLP. Matt brought his family to Fort Collins in 2000. As a former software engineer, Matt is conversant in computer-related technical matters. His practice includes an array of business and real estate related services, construction law, municipal law, and debtor assistance. Matt is currently town attorney for the towns of Nunn, Grover, and Milliken. He is a falconer of many years and has previously served as President of the Colorado Hawking Club. Matt is licensed to practice in Colorado and Oklahoma and is a member of the Colorado, Oklahoma, and Larimer County Bar Associations.
J. Peter Linder
J. Peter Linder received his bachelor’s degree in music performance from Michigan State University in 2002 with high honors, and received his master of music degree from Colorado State University in 2005, where he was named the Outstanding Graduate of the year. In 2010 Peter received his juris doctor from the University of Colorado School of Law, where he graduated in the top quarter of his class.
During his legal education, Peter managed to balance the addition of two daughters to his family, work as a research assistant for two professors, plays cello with the Fort Collins Symphony Orchestra, and interns with the Fort Collins Public Defender’s office.
Peter joined the firm as an associate after clerking for a summer and passing the Colorado Bar in July 2010. He became a named partner in 2015. In 2018 Peter was rated by Super Lawyers as a “Rising Star”.
His practice focuses primarily on business planning, negotiations, transactions, and dispute resolution; real estate; and estate planning. Peter is a member of the Colorado Bar Association.
Fred Long
Fred Long graduated cum laude from Gonzaga University in 2014 with bachelor’s degrees in political science and history. He received his juris doctor degree from the University of Wyoming College of Law in 2017 and was recognized on the Dean’s List for four of his six semesters. During law school, Fred also worked as a teaching assistant for the College of Law’s legal research and writing courses, clerked for the law firm of Bell, Gould, Linder & Scott P.C., and found time to coach soccer for the Laramie Blizzard.
After passing the bar in 2017, Fred joined Bell, Gould, Linder & Scott, P.C. as an associate attorney. In 2022, he became the firm's most recent partner. Presently, he is licensed to practice law before all state courts in Colorado and Wyoming, and before the U.S. District Court in Colorado. Fred actively practices in a wide range of civil matters including estate planning and probate, landlord/tenant disputes, civil litigation, business transactions, real property law, and municipal law.
Fred currently is a member of the American Bar Association, Colorado Bar Association, and the Larimer County Bar Association. Fred also serves on the Board of Directors for Fort Collins Soccer Club (Arsenal Colorado). A Colorado native, Fred enjoys an array of outdoor activities and spends his free-time outside skiing, hiking, biking, and fishing.
Payton Buhler
Payton Buhler was a graduate of Leeds School of Business in 2019 and received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 2021. During her undergraduate and law education, Payton worked for various firms and tutored CU students in math analysis and statistics. During law school, she served in multiple roles on the Student Bar Association.
Payton joined Bell, Gould, Linder & Scott, P.C. as a law clerk after taking the bar in 2021 and joined the firm as an associate later that year. She is prepared to aid the firm in a variety of areas, including business transactions, bankruptcy, municipal matters, real property issues, and estate planning.
Payton is currently a member of the Colorado Bar Association, Women's Bar Association, and the Larimer County Bar Association.

LISA FIRNETT
Lisa Firnett received her bachelor’s degree in Marketing from the Southwest Minnesota State University in 1991. After working and living in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, Lisa and her family moved to Colorado in 1996. Lisa has enjoyed serving the Fort Collins community with Bell, Gould Linder & Scott P.C. since 1998. Over the years, she has assisted numerous individuals in the area of Bankruptcy and debt relief. Lisa enjoys her free time playing golf, pickleball, traveling and spending time with her family.
DON DONAHUE
Don Donahue has worked for the Legal Services Corporation in Boulder and Fort Morgan, Colorado. He has also worked as a private process server and case investigator. Since receiving his paralegal certification from Denver Paralegal Institute, he has worked for law firms in Denver, Boulder, Loveland, and Fort Collins. When not working as a legal assistant, he worked for title insurance companies, and taught writing and paralegal classes at The Institute for Business and Medical Careers in Fort Collins. While completing his thesis (Law, Language, and Justice) for a master’s degree in English at Colorado State University, he accepted a temporary, part-time assignment with the firm (which at that time was Bell, Boge & Associates, P.C.). Don continues to provide paralegal services to the firm, focusing primarily in real estate and litigation.
MIKAYLA POWERS
Mikayla Powers joined Bell, Gould, Linder & Scott, P.C. as an intern in 2017. She has since become the firm’s office manager, and her areas of practice include estate planning, probate, and general business. She is passionate about assisting clients in an understanding and thoughtful way. In her free time, she greatly enjoys reading, spending time with her friends and family (and her cat), and taking walks in the stunning Colorado landscape.
SHANNON MATTHEWS
Shannon Matthews earned her Bachelors of Arts from Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri. After moving to Colorado with her husband Eric, she took paralegal studies courses at Front Range Community College. She has been working as a paralegal since 2000, in many areas of practice with a specialty in litigation, general business and real estate. She was a former Vice President of the Larimer-Weld Association of Legal Support Staff. Shannon joined Bell, Gould, Linder & Scott, P.C. in 2021. In her spare time, Shannon studies as a dancer, enjoys the Colorado Symphony and Colorado Ballet, travels with her husband and enjoys time with her two cocker spaniels.
